Honda Cars India has appointed Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. He will take charge on October 1, 2026, succeeding Takashi Nakajima, who is returning to Honda Motor Co. in Japan.
In his new role, Yanagisawa will lead the overall business of Honda Cars India. This includes strategic planning, sales, marketing, product development, and improving the customer experience. Yanagisawa is a long-time Honda executive with nearly 30 years of experience across different countries and business areas. He has held several leadership roles in Honda’s global operations, covering business planning, corporate strategy, sales, and market development.
Most recently, he worked as an Operating Executive at Honda Motor Co., where he helped shape business strategies and support international operations. His wide experience with global automotive trends and changing customer preferences is expected to help Honda adapt to India’s evolving mobility market.
Honda has identified North America, Japan, and India as key priority markets for its future growth. The company’s India Strategic Development Office has been creating India-focused plans and strategies to expand Honda’s business in this growing market. Work on an India-focused strategic vehicle, planned for launch in 2028, has now moved into the execution phase.
The appointment comes at an important time for Honda in India. The company has been expanding its product range, focusing more on customers, and investing in future technologies.
