Amazon Now has launched a new campaign that uses humour and satire to highlight the growing list of add-on charges in the quick-commerce category. Built around the concept of India’s first “Museum of Unnecessary Charges,” the campaign presents fees such as rain surcharges, surge pricing, handling costs and convenience charges as outdated relics. This approach reinforces Amazon Now’s promise of delivering everyday essentials in minutes without any extra costs.
At the heart of the campaign is a digital film that takes viewers through a fictional museum where these familiar checkout fees are displayed as exhibits from a bygone era. By turning the charges into museum artefacts, Amazon Now challenges the idea that shoppers should accept extra fees as a normal part of online ordering.
The creative is rooted in a clear consumer insight. While quick-commerce platforms have greatly improved convenience, many customers still end up paying more than expected once handling fees, convenience charges, rain surcharges and similar add-ons appear on the final bill. Amazon Now uses wit and satire to question this practice and spotlight its own transparent pricing.
According to the brand, customers on Amazon Now can get daily essentials delivered in minutes without rain fees, surge charges, handling fees, convenience fees or several other costs that have become common across the category. The campaign therefore shifts the focus from speed alone to the overall value customers receive.
Gaurav Arora, Co-founder of Social Panga, explained the thinking behind the idea:
“The strongest ideas begin with a human truth but flourish because of execution. Functional propositions are often the hardest to make memorable, so our approach is to find a cultural expression of the truth we’re trying to tell. ‘The Museum of Unnecessary Charges’ came from asking a simple question: if these charges were becoming a thing of the past, where would they then actually belong? The answer gave us a platform that could live as an experience, a film and a social conversation, while staying rooted in the brand’s core proposition.”
The concept goes beyond a traditional advertisement and has been developed into a broader brand platform. Amazon Now and Social Panga have created an idea that can extend across multiple touchpoints, from the film itself to wider conversations about pricing transparency and true convenience.
Soumabha Nandi, Executive Vice President of Creative and Strategy at Social Panga, noted that once the insight was clear, the museum concept followed naturally:
“Once that insight was clear, the museum became inevitable. It couldn’t exist as a visual metaphor; it had to be a real place that people could walk into, experience and question for themselves. Sometimes, the most honest expression of an idea is simply to build it for real.”
In a category where most brands compete primarily on delivery speed, Amazon Now’s latest campaign differentiates itself through transparency and value. By transforming hidden fees into museum exhibits, the brand delivers a simple message: convenience should not come with unexpected charges. As the quick-commerce sector continues to evolve, the campaign underscores a growing consumer expectation that fast delivery should be matched by clear and predictable pricing.
