Humans of Bombay has entered its next phase with the launch of The Human Company, a new umbrella business that brings together strategy, creative, production, original intellectual properties and distribution.
Founded by Karishma Mehta, Humans of Bombay began as a storytelling platform in 2014 and has since published more than 7,000 stories, building a community of over 7 million people. The platform will continue to operate as the flagship storytelling property under the new structure.
Mehta announced the development on LinkedIn, describing The Human Company as the name for the larger business that has developed behind Humans of Bombay over the past 12 years. The company has expanded from storytelling into brand strategy, creative development, content production, original IPs and audience distribution.
The company currently works with brands including AWS, Samsung, HSBC, Myntra and Zomato, among others. Its new structure is designed to bring the different stages of brand building under one roof, allowing ideas to move from strategy and creative development to production and distribution within the same ecosystem.
The leadership team has also been strengthened as part of the transition. Amit Sobti has been elevated to Chief Operating Officer, while Jasleen Kaur Gupta has taken on the role of Chief Creative and Strategy Officer.
The move reflects a broader shift in the digital content and advertising industry, where the boundaries between media platforms, creators, agencies and entertainment businesses are becoming increasingly blurred. Mehta noted that brands today need partners capable of taking an idea from insight to impact within an integrated ecosystem.
For Humans of Bombay, the transition is less about leaving its original identity behind and more about placing the storytelling platform within a larger business. The Human Company will handle the broader commercial ecosystem, while Humans of Bombay continues to focus on the stories and community that built the brand.
The development also marks a significant evolution for a company that began with a simple storytelling format and gradually expanded its capabilities. As Kaumil Gajera noted in his LinkedIn post, the business has moved from building a format to building capabilities across storytelling, audiences, strategy, creative, production and original IPs.
With The Human Company, Karishma Mehta is now positioning the business beyond a digital storytelling platform and towards a broader content and brand solutions company.
